Russian Expert: Covid-19 Virus Mutation Situation Supports The Natural Origin Of The Virus

Russian researchers recently stated that they have conducted research on the mutation of the COVID-19 virus and the results support the view that the COVID-19 virus is of natural origin.
According to a recent report by TASS News Agency, Alexander Panchin of the Institute of Information Transmission Issues of the Russian Academy of Sciences and others wrote an article in the Peer-Reviewed Journal of Science (PeerJ). They analyzed more than 1,000 sets of COVID-19 virus genome sequencing in different countries. According to the data, 1251 gene mutations were found, many of which were replaced by guanine by uracil.
By comparing more than 1,000 SARS-CoV-2 genomes, 200 SARS genomes, and more than 40 HKU1 virus genomes, the researchers found that the mutations of the COVID-19 virus in the early stages of evolution are similar to those of other coronaviruses in nature, but they are infectious After giving it to humans, many abnormal mutations appeared in the genome of the COVID-19 virus, and guanine changed to uracil in many places. The proportion of this mutation is almost ten times that before it was transmitted to humans.
Pan Qin said that if bats are the natural host of the COVID-19 virus, then bat cells and the COVID-19 virus can "coexist peacefully," and the virus has fewer mutations in the bat. However, after the COVID-19 virus is transmitted to humans, the human body may experience a high level of oxidative stress, which can cause guanine in some parts of the virus genome to change to uracil. As the COVID-19 virus spreads widely among the population, the virus continues to adapt to the human environment, and the mutation probability of replacing guanine with uracil has increased significantly.
Pan Qin believes: "These circumstances indicate that the COVID-19 virus is of natural origin, and there is no sign of human intervention in its evolution."
